Full Ice Dot/Edge Skating- 15-20 minutes
Coach Travis will lead:
Leave one zone open. Other coaches- if a player is not grasping the drills that Coach Christian is leading. please take them aside in the open zone and work with them 1 v 1. ** Add pucks for top players today.
Goalies- Goalies have been hit or miss, but if they are there one of you please warm them up.
3 Stations - 30 minutes (8ish minutes each)
Station 1: Coach VanOeveren & Blake Full Zone Station 2: Fountain Full Zone Station 3: Sam (Neutral Zone)
Station 1: Agility React
Coach: Tim and B
Note- both of you run the same drill but split the group into two. Higher end/ lower end.
If possible have the higher end do this drill with pucks.
Focus point is to keep their heads up. Feel free to add other variations... like starting on their stomach... adding a pass at the end, tight turns instead of just making a move, etc.
Station 2: Small Area Game
Coach: Fountain
Based on Groups and goalies adjust the game as needed.
Station 3: Edge Work
Coach: Sam
Keep building on what you have been doing.
Extra: 1 v 1 time with players
Coach: Travis
I will be taking kids and working with them 1 v 1.
3 Stations - 30 minutes (8ish minutes each)
Station 1: Coach VanOeveren Full Zone Station 2: Fountain Full Zone Station 3: Sam & Blake
Station 1: Agility Compete Drills
Coach: Travis
Drill description
Tim I will explain these to you at the rink.
Station 2: 3 v 1 Keep Away
Coach: Fountain & Tim
Have 4 players in the zone at one time. Designate 1 player as defense. The other 3 work together to keep the puck away from defender. If the defender gets the puck out all 3 players do pushups.
Key Coaching Points:
Offense- always moving, always being an option. Communication. Creating your own space with the puck, no need to pass if you are the open option.
Defense- stick position, angles, etc.
Bonus: If you have a goalie put the net on one end. If offense still has the puck after 30 seconds or so blow the whistle and allow a 3 v 1 rush towards the net. You can feel free to do this without a goalie too.
Station 3: more Edge Work
Coach: Sam & Blake
Both of you pick one of your favorite skating drills. Split the neutral zone in half and the group in half and run the drill.
Extra time?
Have some sort of fun game... Maybe split older and younger kids...
